Positive Visualisation

If you close your eyes and imagine eating something delicious, you will probably start to produce more saliva and to feel hungry. If you remember a scary film that you have seen recently, your heart rate will start to go up even though you are sitting down and relaxing. In these examples visualising an event has a real physical effect on your body.

You can use visualisation to improve your health, such as lower your blood pressure, increase your physical performance or to take more control over your general stress levels and wellbeing. Research has shown that harnessing the power of positive visualisation can improve your sports or sales performance, reduce anxiety and insomnia and help relieve chronic pain.

Visualisation increases blood flow to the brain, helping you think better and increases right brain activity. The right side of the brain is associated with imaginative activities, emotion, and intuition. By increasing activity in the emotional side of your brain you are able to explore and focus on achieving a particular goal or overcoming a fear or phobia.
