Creativity

What is it?

The ‘Creativity’ course is a bit of an eye-opener. Run over five days, it enables you to access your own creativity, grow confident in using it and see how you can successfully apply it in a range of business situations.

In today’s fast-changing competitive environment, creativity and innovation are recognised as giving any organisation a key advantage.

‘92% of senior European business leaders see creativity and innovation as the key to competitiveness.’
(Business in the Community report)

We are all creative. However, most of us lose touch with our creativity, confuse it with being ‘arty’ and may even believe that we have lost our creative abilities altogether. By ignoring or stifling our creativity at work, we are depriving ourselves and our organisations of a practical and valuable skill.

Who is it for?

Because everyone is creative, in one sense the course is relevant to everyone. However, as the course specifically focuses on the use of creativity in the workplace, it is especially suitable for:

  • managers
  • self-employed people
  • owners of small and medium sized businesses
  • entrepreneurs
  • trainers

What does it consist of?

‘Creativity’ is a five-day fully residential course, held at ‘Holwell’, our environmentally-friendly training centre in North Devon.

This is not a course for people who want to sit around talking about creativity. Whilst the course structure includes some theory, this is essentially a ‘hands-on’ course. Learning is drawn out of a wide range of practical exercises followed by ample opportunities for discussion to link the learning with day-to-day business challenges.

As the week progresses, participants have the opportunity to concentrate on aspects of their own choosing.

What does it cover?

There is often confusion between creativity, innovation and 'arty' things. This course is not about art or ‘arty’ things - it is about you, your creativity and how to use it to be more effective at work.

You will cover –

  • using innovation and imagination in your work
  • practical applications of your creativity at work
  • the powerful and persuasive use of words at work
  • accessing your creativity
  • balancing creativity with logical rational thinking
  • creativity as a management and communication skill
  • creativity in teams
  • creativity in meetings
  • the role of imagination and intuition
  • creativity as a personal development tool
  • developing the creativity of your staff.

In addition, everyone will have the chance to apply their newly-honed creative skills to a specific current work challenge and get creative ideas from other participants as well.

Everyone leaves with a plan of down-to-earth practical actions to apply back at work.

We do not deal with airy-fairy issues but with reality.

What results can I expect?

You can be sure to leave the course having experienced using your creativity and developed greater confidence in your own abilities. How you put this to use is up to you. You can reasonably expect to achieve these type of results:

  • be more innovative at work
  • improve your profile
  • deal with change quickly and imaginatively
  • expand your range of problem solving strategies
  • communicate in a more vibrant and effective way
  • greatly broaden your thinking
  • develop new products, services and processes
  • recognise and encourage creativity in others
  • break through your own perceived limitations
  • surprise yourself with the wealth of resources within you
  • imagine and meet your customers need
  • increase your job satisfaction
  • improve your team working
  • get more and better ideas from your staff.
