Holwell
Holwell is our environmentally-friendly residential training centre, set in rolling open countryside. Originally an old Devon farmhouse, the house dates from 1244 and is situated in a quiet valley with views to Exmoor on the horizon. The world-famous North Devon coast is just 4 miles away, with majestic cliffs and languorous beaches.

Interesting features, such as exposed beams, wood carvings, a cosy Inglenook fireplace, wood burning stoves and a minstrel’s gallery, give the house character. Eight bedrooms are available to course participants, six with private bathrooms. Fresh and filtered spring water comes from the borehole on our own land.
Surrounding Holwell are paths and picturesque clearings, an organic vegetable garden, a millpond and a newly refurbished water wheel, as well as newly planted woodland and the usual barns and stables that go with a large farm.
Our wonderful chef cooks everything fresh, to an exceptionally high standard, using local, seasonal and organic ingredients whenever possible. Home-made cakes at tea time provide a treat!
We have refurbished Holwell in an environmentally friendly way. The use of 'green' wall and floor coverings, natural materials and renewable energy means that the house is low-allergy and healthy as well as looking good.
Course participants with allergies have found their allergies improve or even clear up completely while they are staying at Holwell, so these are people-friendly as well as environmentally-friendly buildings.
Most recently, we have converted the old stables into a state-of-the-art environmentally-friendly training room which merited a double page, full colour spread in the glossy magazine; 'Devon Life'.
Holwell is the best location I have ever been in for a training event, and in 33 years at Barclays, I've been in quite a few!"
