'A chance to challenge, chill and change!'

The decision to introduce Springboard into the University in 2008 has been an extremely positive one. Over 80 Academic, Support & Research Staff have taken part in the programme. Because their Springboard workshop took place on St Valentine's Day, staff at Loretto Housing Association in Glasgow decided to celebrate by wearing red for the day (and by brandishing their red chocolate roses). Loretto Housing Association is a great place to work - they were awarded a Gold "Investors in People" award (and have numerous other awards) - and investing in staff development is a priority - even in these difficult times. Loretto has been running Springboard programmes for several years and Marie Kane, the Springboard trainer on the right, says that she loves going there because the staff are so committed and passionate about their work.
The other big 'plus' is the Glaswegian humour and sense of fun - have a look at the Springboard poem from Katie O'Donnell, Loretto Springboard class of 2009 on our stories page.

We have recently completed a Spring Forward programme at HMP Bronzefield in London for Kalyx, who are a subsidiary of Sodexo. Women participating in the programme had a wide range of roles from prison officers to nurses working in prisons across the UK.
Spring Forward is part of a larger programme for these women that will include mentoring and 360 assessments. Project work included shadowing each other’s roles and developing a new training framework. One of our creative project reports was a short drama with scenes in one of the training cells and at an incident debrief!

Michelle Hunter, a Springboard trainer in Germany, gathered together colleagues and clients for a Spring Forward programme which took place in Stuttgart. This was the first time that Spring Forward has been delivered in Germany and I travelled over specially to deliver it. Two excellent speakers gave their views on the place of women in Germany and challenged the participants to make a difference for women within their own worlds, starting with themselves.
The small group really enjoyed their project work where they made significant steps in addressing issues both at home and at work.
Many thanks to Michelle for arranging the event. It was a real pleasure to meet and work with the German participants, and to get the opportunity to explore Stuttgart.

Recently the Springboard Consultancy passed their Investors in People 3 year review with flying colours. We take our investment in our people very seriously, so we were delighted that a formal review by an external organisation confirmed that we were doing a good job.
Investors in People helps to keep us on our toes by challenging the way we do things and ensuring we continue to push ourselves as an organisation to do more for our staff and to make sure the business is running effectively and efficiently.
We are looking forward to the next review in another 3 years time!
