Trainer Story

My time with Springboard - Tiffany Macedo-Dine
Three years ago I noticed an advert for a Springboard Trainer in weekly orders. The advert explained it was a ‘woman’s development programme’ which enabled women to take more control over their own lives by identifying the clear, practical and realistic steps that they want to take and developing the skills and confidence to take them...... and that was enough for me to decide I was interested!
Having applied for the post and been successful, I attended my week long Springboard licensing course which I can now say changed my life. I say that in retrospect, because at the time, although it was fascinating, inspiring and exciting, I did not know it was to be life changing. But three years on, I attribute the foundations of my success and fulfilment to the values, principles and tools I learnt from the Springboard programme.
My journey with springboard has lead me to delivering a number of courses across the Force area and it has been enjoyable to see the programme grow in popularity and opportunity. Now well established, Springboard continues to thrive, with over 300 women having attended the programme in-force and a healthy waiting list of those wishing to attend, it seems good news continues to travel fast!
Having experienced such success internally, the step was taken to open spaces on our in-house programmes to neighbouring organisations, such as the Prison and Fire Service. This was taken one stage further this year when I was invited to run a full Springboard programme for the Prison Service South West Region. This course, the first of its kind to be conducted in the Prison Service across the UK, met with overwhelming enthusiasm and energy from those attending. The results have been so outstanding that the Prison Service have now invested in training two of their own in-house Springboard trainers – another first! I have enjoyed enormously being a part of the Prison Service’s journey with this development programme, and feel privileged to be a part of Springboard within Devon and Cornwall Police. I am very proud of Springboard and what is has to offer women and I continue to be inspired by those women who take part.
